This man has had many names and titles over the years but he was born Zair Tigerdale of Thorpeldown. At a young age Zair demonstrated great skill with the sword. His Father a Holy man wanted nothing less than for him to be Captain of Lord Thorpel’s watch, but Zair had other things in mind. Zair wanted to serve a higher calling to serve with the shining swords and be a Holly Defender of the realm. A compromise was struck Zair’s father used his wealth to secure the position of squire for the newly knighted champion of the Dunraven Sir Traveion. From this position Zair could improve his skills in battle and make friends in high places, captain of Lord Dunravens watch would a suitable honor the for his son, and should Zair still decide to go off and join the order of the shining swords he would be far more welcome coming as a knightly squire. So Zair squired for several years, sparing with Sir Traveian, learning the ways army’s, and battle tactics, until the day came when Lord Weston Dunraven The 5th called upon his fathers champion to use his skill with a blade. A terrible creature from outside this plane of existence had been scene near Dunraven. No one really knows why it was there or how Lord Dunraven knew about it, rumors still persist, but Sir Traveion with his trusty squire met the vile foe head on, and slew the beast, but not before Sir Traveion was killed by the Devil and Zair was horribly scared by the beasts hell fire. Zair’s face was nearly melted off, his skin melded in to one mound of flesh. With all of society shunning him it seemed that now was the time to fulfill his dream to join the order of the shining sword as a protector and finish his life in the service of Heironeous the realm. Sadly the order didn’t have room for Zair in the ranks of Protector of the realm. Protectors of the realm are supposed to ease people, instill people with confidence, but Zair’s face scarred more people than it helped. There was only room for Zair in the Holly Crusaders, so Zair took his oaths and was Crusader, and what a crusader he was, years severing as a champions squire prepared him to be a warrior. The biggest upside to being a squire is the chance to spar with a great warrior everyday. Zair was part of suspenseful mission after mission and moved quickly up the ranks, after a short while he was 1st crusader, and lead missions all over the plains. The horrors he must have seen literary traveling to hell and back. It wears on the mind… some say Zair went totally mad, some say he just snapped after being mocked, others say he was being temped by Hextor and swayed to his side. what ever the reason he is lost. One fateful day Zair, returning from an especially nasty mission, where he and one other were the only survivors, he went mad. broke all his oaths and committed the worst of crimes, he raped, he killed, he even killed members of his fellow order. It took six protectors and the lord commander to detain him. His punishment was debated for days many wanted him dead, but after hours of prayer Lord Commander declared that Herouinius may yet have use for Zair, and in deference to his years of service his life would be spared, but he would be face the next worse punishment. Excommunicated from the church, removed from the order, banished from the Empire and branded an Oath Breaker.
The party found this jolly fellow living in a shack 10 miles east of the Citadel of Swords.
